Reflux can have medical causes that need a doctor. We assess what we are trained to assess, and refer promptly when something falls outside our scope.
What parents often notice
- Frequent spilling or possetting after feeds
- Arching, squirming or pulling away during a feed
- Discomfort when laid flat, at nappy changes or in the car seat
- A strong preference for feeding on one side
- Difficulty settling after feeds
How we approach it
We start with a careful history of feeding, sleep and birth, then assess how freely your baby moves through the neck, jaw and upper back. Where we find restriction or tension, we use gentle, age-appropriate techniques to help your baby move and rest more comfortably.
We also look at the practical side — positioning, latch and winding — and will happily work with your lactation consultant or paediatrician. Chiropractic care does not treat reflux itself, and we will always say so plainly; what we aim to do is reduce the physical tension that can make an unsettled baby more uncomfortable.
