Why does flat head happen?
Deformational plagiocephaly (flat head) often accompanies a head tilt or tightness on one side of the neck, known as torticollis. When a baby consistently rests or looks in one direction, gentle, consistent pressure on the soft skull can create a flat spot.
Signs to look for
- A preference to turn the head to one side more than the other
- An uneven or flattened head shape
- A head tilt or 'banana' shaped resting posture
- Difficulty with tummy time
How chiropractic can help
Using specific, gentle techniques we support your baby's neck mobility and symmetry, helping restore comfortable movement in both directions. This works alongside repositioning and plenty of supervised tummy time. Early support gives the best opportunity for symmetrical development.
Adjustments for infants are extremely light — sometimes no more than the pressure of a fingertip — and always tailored to each child's age, size and needs.
