Constipation is usually managed with diet, fluids, routine and, where needed, medication from your doctor. Our role sits alongside that, not instead of it.
What parents often notice
- Hard, dry or pellet-like stools
- Straining, crying or holding on when passing a stool
- Fewer bowel movements than is usual for your child
- A firm, uncomfortable tummy
- Reduced appetite or general irritability
How we approach it
We take a full history and assess the lower back, pelvis and hips, along with how your child sits, moves and holds tension through the abdomen. Where we find restriction, we use gentle techniques appropriate to their age, and we talk through positioning, toileting posture and daily movement.
We want to be clear about what this is and is not. Chiropractic care is not a treatment for constipation, and we make no promises about bowel habits. What we can do is assess and address the musculoskeletal tension and discomfort that often sits alongside it, and support your child while your doctor manages the rest.
